Streams the Jetstream firehose for app.bsky.actor.status — every account marked live right now, on any platform, not just what Bluesky's own badge allowlists. Live Now is the ephemeral glance; Census is the durable roster built from the same events, stored locally (IndexedDB) so it survives closing this file.
Get a key at bsky.network/account (sign in, then create one under API keys) — it authenticates HTTP calls to Jetstream v2's planSnapshot/listSegments/getSegment/getBlock endpoints as Authorization: Bearer <key>, metered by bytes downloaded.
This downloads and decodes Bluesky's sealed archive segments directly in this page — real protocol work (zstd frames, a columnar block layout, dag-CBOR records) built from Bluesky's own published spec, but never run against real data before, since I don't hold a key myself. It validates its own output at every stage (header sanity, byte-count checks, decode errors) and will not feed anything into your data that fails validation — if any stage doesn't check out, it stops cleanly and switches to the fallback below instead of guessing. Fallback: a small Node.js script (jetstream-backfill.mjs, shipped alongside this file) uses Bluesky's own official SDK — the same one their docs point to — to do the same backfill outside the browser, writing a JSON file. Use Import backfill file below to load its output here. Either path only fills in history; nothing here changes how the live tail works.
